Just to add a bit in regard to the use of energy calculation of a specific let's say projectile and it's intended target. For those of us who like to hunt small to medium sized game and varmints with air rifles, we do actually use the energy calculations for our projectiles to ensure we are producing enough energy to humanely take down the critter we are shooting at.
